INDIANAPOLIS – BCforward, the largest Indiana-based information technology consulting and staffing firm headquartered in Indianapolis, announced today that Vice-President and COO Doug Heath is a recipient of the Patriot Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a program through the Department of Defense.
“We are proud of Doug who continues to find ways to support and give back to our country, community and employees,” said BCforward CEO & Founder Justin Christian. “At BCforward we appreciate the sacrifices made by our veterans, servicemen and women. These men and women are tremendous assets to our company.”
Heath, who is a United States Airforce veteran, was surprised by his colleagues who arranged a special ceremony to present him the Patriot Award. Jason Kegerreis, a First Lieutenant with the United States Army Reserve, nominated Heath for the Patriot Award. Kegerreis serves as a Midwest recruiting manager at BCforward, and has been employed by the company for four years.
“I’m grateful to Doug and other managers at BCforward who’ve been extremely supportive of my service,” said Kegerreis. I’ve seen the same support granted to others in the guard and reserve, and it is truly remarkable the level of care and concern demonstrated at BCforward.”
BCforward, the largest minority owned business in the state, currently employs over 100 veterans and active duty servicemen and women. The company provides numerous benefits and provides flexibility to active duty employees.
“As a supporter of the ESGR program, I want to thank every employer in Indiana who hires National Guard members, Reservists, and veterans. These men and women represent the best of our state. They deserve our support as they both protect our nation’s security and help businesses thrive,” said U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly.
During the presentation of the award, Heath also received recognitions from Congressman André Carson, Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch and Mayor Joe Hogsett.
“Employers and managers like Doug are models to us all on how we should uplift and reward individuals who personally sacrifice to protect us and our freedom,” said U.S. Representative Susan Brooks.
The Patriot Award recognizes supervisors who provide support to servicemen and women through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence. An employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve, or the spouse of a Guard or Reserve member, may nominate individual supervisors and bosses for support provided directly to the nominating service member and his or her family.
BCforward embraces thought leadership from all levels of the organization and nurtures a culture where everyone contributes to the success of the company. Employees are viewed by BCforward’s leaders as the company’s most precious asset and the core of the success of its business.
